Sara Stevano

Sara Stevano is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at SOAS University of London, holding a PhD from SOAS. She previously worked at the University of the West of England and King’s College London. Her research focuses on feminist political economy, social reproduction, work, food systems, and African development. She coordinates the IIPPE Social Reproduction Working Group and ANH Political Economy of Agri-Nutrition Working Group.

Research Interests: Explores intersections of gender, labor, food systems, and social stratification in Africa. Recent work analyzes ultra-processed foods, pandemic labor dynamics, and colonial legacies in global supply chains. Publications: Focus on social reproduction theory, food systems in Ghana, Mozambican labor dynamics, and feminist critiques of development economics. Themes include gendered work dynamics, capitalist exploitation, and structural inequalities in global South contexts.
