Dr. Sara Schmitt is the Bricker-Squires Faculty Chair in Early Intervention and an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education and Clinical Sciences at the University of Oregon's College of Education. She holds affiliations with the Prevention Science Institute and the Prevention Sciences Graduate Program. Her research focuses on early childhood self-regulation, social-emotional development, and school readiness, particularly for underserved populations. Dr. Schmitt designs evidence-based interventions, such as the Early Learning Matters curriculum implemented in military child development centers. She has received accolades including the 2021 Society for the Study of Human Development Early Career Award and the 2021 Purdue University Trailblazer Award.
