Sara McDaniel Wienecke is an Assistant Professor of English and Chair of the English Department at Principia College. Her academic focus spans creative writing, literature analysis, and historical American literary studies. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte and a BA from Principia College.
Her research interests include African American literature, late 19th- and early 20th-century American literature, fiction, and poetry. She actively engages students through off-campus literary events, visiting writer programs, and the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) Conference. As advisor to the Friends of English club, she fosters campus literary culture.
Her scholarly work includes analyses of contemporary short stories and craft lectures on narrative techniques. She emphasizes connecting students to broader literary communities through immersive learning opportunities.
