Sara Magenheimer

Sara Magenheimer is an Associate Professor of New Media at the School of Film and Media Studies, Purchase College. Her practice spans video, sound, performance, sculpture, collage, and installation, disrupting conventional narrative structures through bold combinations of image and text.

Her research focuses on defamiliarizing language through multimedia experiments, exploring vernacular associations and non-linear storytelling. Recent solo exhibitions include The New Museum (2018), Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (2017), and screenings at International Film Festival Rotterdam and the New York Film Festival. Her work emphasizes audience interpretation through syncopated visual-textual progressions.
