Sara Loughran Dommer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Marketing at the Smeal College of Business, Pennsylvania State University. Her research focuses on consumer behavior, particularly how individuals' self-concepts, identities, and relationships influence their behavior. She serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Marketing Research and teaches Integrated Marketing Communications.
Education: She earned her Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012 and a B.S. in Marketing from Pennsylvania State University in 2005.
Research Interests: Her work examines psychological mechanisms underlying consumption patterns, including identity relevance, ethical decision-making, and interpersonal dynamics in joint choices. She investigates how self-perception affects product usage, disposal behaviors, and responses to sustainability initiatives.
Awards: Recognized for teaching excellence with the 2024 Smeal Undergraduate Student Teaching Excellence Award.
