Sara Khomais is a Doctoral Researcher and Lecturer affiliated with the School of Design and Creative Arts. She holds a BA in Graphic Design from Dar Al Hekma University (Jeddah, KSA) and an MA in Graphic Design from Suffolk University (Boston, US). Her research focuses on Arabic typography, cultural integration through design, and experimental letterforms. Notably, her thesis project wāw explores merging Arabic and English typographies to bridge cultural divides. She is also a book designer, with projects like A Tea Party At Cinderella's Palace (nominated for the Etisalat Award in 2015) and More Than 28 Letters. Her work emphasizes sustainability, as seen in projects like From Violence to Peace, which repurposes guns into artistic pieces.
Her design philosophy blends creativity with social impact, evident in initiatives like the Zeena Project (family-made recycled decorations) and typography experiments using floral elements. She has designed calendars (Oswa, Reda), logos (Synergy, Black Gold), and typographic installations. Sara’s work often highlights cultural dialogue and environmental consciousness.
Key achievements include her wāw thesis exhibition at Suffolk University (2016) and her contributions to Arabic calligraphy through projects like Magribi Script Calendar. Her research and design practice reflect a commitment to innovation while honoring cultural heritage.
