Sara F. Maher

Sara F. Maher serves as Associate Dean for Health Sciences and Clinical Professor of Physical Therapy at Wayne State University. She holds multiple degrees including a PhD in Educational Evaluation and Research (Wayne State University, 2020), DScPT and a Graduate Certificate in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (Oakland University, 2006, 2004), a Master of Physical Therapy (Wayne State University, 1999), and a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Science (Wayne State University, 1997).

Her research focuses on:

• Prevention and treatment of workplace/performance injuries
• Wound treatment methodologies
• Therapeutic modalities in physical therapy
• Interventions to enhance student learning outcomes

Awards/Honors:

• Educational Leadership Fellow (APTA, 2014)

She teaches courses including PT7600 (Physical Therapy for Medical and Surgical Conditions) and PT7740 (Research Practicum). Previously, she held faculty positions at Oakland University (2006-2014) and worked clinically in orthopedic settings across Michigan.
