Sara Ellis Nilsson is a Senior Lecturer in Early History and Deputy Head of the Department of Cultural Sciences at Linnaeus University. She holds a Ph.D. in medieval history from the University of Gothenburg and is an Honorary Reader in History at Lund University. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on cultural heritage, material culture, hagiography, and digital humanities.

- Medieval saint cults and lived religion
- Digitization of cultural heritage (e.g., Mapping Lived Religion project)
