Sara Brogaard is a Senior Lecturer in Sustainability Science at Lund University, affiliated with LUCSUS (Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies) and multiple research centers including MECW: The Middle East in the Contemporary World. Her work focuses on climate change impacts on rural land use, mitigation policies, and interdisciplinary sustainability science. She collaborates with institutions like Universeum Science Centre and jazz composers to enhance public engagement with climate issues.
Research interests include climate vulnerability in farming systems, renewable energy land-use conflicts, and transdisciplinary methodologies. Recent projects analyze the 2018 Swedish drought's socio-ecological impacts and governance of aquathermal energy systems. She contributes to UN SDGs related to climate action, sustainable cities, and responsible consumption.
Her publications address dust storm dynamics in Mesopotamia, energy transition governance, and seasonal vulnerability in East Africa. Brogaard is actively involved in educational outreach, teaching courses like Energy and Sustainability in master's programs at LUMES and LUMID.
