Santosh Kalauni is a Faculty Research Assistant in the Galimba Lab at Oregon State University’s Mid-Columbia Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Hood River, OR. He holds an MS in Horticulture (2024) from OSU, advised by Dr. R. Paul Schreiner and Dr. Patty Skinkis, focusing on potassium fertilization and mycorrhizal fungi interactions in vineyards. His work contributes to the federally funded High-Resolution Vineyard Nutrition Project.
Research Interests:
- Plant Physiology (water relations and stress responses)
- Nutrient Management (efficiency and sustainability)
- Cold Hardiness in Cherries
- Climate Resilience in Pome Fruits
- Optimizing Orchard Production Systems
Publications highlight his expertise in crop optimization, post-harvest storage, and genotype evaluation across diverse crops like apples, walnuts, beans, and maize. His work spans Nepal’s agro-ecological challenges and US-Pacific Northwest orchard systems.
Awards include the 2023 ASEV Scholarship and OWRI Travel Grants (2023, 2024). His research has been presented at national conferences. Current projects aim to advance sustainable practices for pear and cherry production.
