Santokh Gill

Dr Santokh Gill is a Senior Lecturer in Housing Studies at the University of Huddersfield's School of Human and Health Sciences, Department of Social and Psychological Sciences. He is a core member of the Centre for Citizenship, Conflict, Identity and Diversity. His research focuses on housing equity, refugee experiences, race/ethnicity dynamics, South Asian masculinities, and community engagement through arts and media.

Key projects include a European-funded study on refugee housing in Yorkshire and Humber, a Joseph Rowntree Foundation study on British Muslim men, and work on political participation among minority youth. His research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to housing, equality, and community cohesion.

Recent publications (2022–2025) emphasize refugee housing trajectories, policy gaps, and gender dynamics in housing access. He has published in journals like Journal of Muslim Mental Health, Journal of Education and Work, and Housing Studies, with over 35 citations for his 2024 Housing Studies article. He actively reviews for journals like Child and Youth Services and Housing Studies, and has supervised six PhD students.

Dr Gill's work bridges academic research and policy practice, advocating for equitable housing solutions and community-driven approaches. He examines how housing policies intersect with race, gender, and migration, particularly for marginalized groups.
