Her research employs a One Health approach to investigate viral spillover at the human-animal interface and validate diagnostic tools.
Education
- BVSc & AH (2010), Madras Veterinary College, TANUVAS, Chennai, India
- MVSc (2013), Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Mukteswar, India
- PhD (2016), Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, India

Research Interests
Dr. Ramasamy’s work focuses on zoonotic viruses, including capripoxviruses and influenza D, with an emphasis on cross-species transmission. She develops diagnostic tools for peste des petits ruminants virus and pseudovirus neutralization assays for SARS-CoV-2, influenza A H5N1, and influenza D. Her team also investigates pathogenesis determinants and replication-defective vaccines for cattle flu.
Scientific Awards
- DACVM (Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Microbiologists), 2020
Contributions
She pioneered the golden hamster model for COVID-19 (immunocompetent and immunocompromised) and assessed anti-inflammatory therapeutics (CC11050) and RBD-based vaccines. Her current projects include surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza variants via serological tools, supported by collaborations across institutions.
