Sanjib Adhikary

Sanjib Adhikary, MBBS, MD is Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine, serving as Chief of the Division of Regional Anesthesia & Acute Pain Management Service. He holds additional leadership roles as Director of Acute Pain, Regional Anesthesia and Orthopaedics, and Vice Chair of Research and Innovation. His clinical expertise spans Regional Anesthesia, Neuro Anesthesia, Orthopaedic Anesthesia, and Obstetric Anesthesia.

Dr. Adhikary completed his medical education at Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College (1997), followed by internships in Anesthesiology (2001-2002) and fellowships in Anesthesiology at London Health Sciences Center (2009) and Neuro Anesthesia at Toronto Western Hospital (2008).

His research focuses on regional anesthesia techniques and pain management, with particular expertise in ultrasound-guided procedures and nerve blocks. Key research areas include erector spinae plane blocks (73% of his work), regional anesthesia (71%), pain management (55%), and thoracic wall procedures (36%).
