Sanja Mijatović is a Principal Research Fellow at the Department of Immunology, Institute for Biological Research 'Siniša Stanković', affiliated with the University of Belgrade. Her work focuses on the tumor microenvironment, inflammation-regeneration crosstalk, and the development of antitumor therapies using synthetic/natural agents and nanotechnology.
- Education: PhD in Immunology (2005), Master's in Immunology (1999), and Bachelor's in Molecular Biology and Physiology (1994) from the University of Belgrade.
- Research: Investigates molecular mechanisms underlying tumor progression, chemoresistance, and inflammation-driven cancer repopulation. Projects include "Cancer repopulation caused by inflammation: seeds of progression and a platform for therapy" (Science Fund of Serbia, PRISMA programme).
- Awards: Mentored two doctoral and two master's theses; her students won SDIR’s 2025 award for best cancer research publications.
- Collaborations: Leads bilateral projects, collaborates with the STRIMHealth team, and contributes to EU COST Actions like FeSImmChemNet.
