Saniye Vatansever is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago (2015). Her research focuses on the history of philosophy, particularly Kant, early modern philosophers (Descartes, Hume, Leibniz), and 19th-century German philosophy. She also explores philosophy of science, ethics, and religious philosophy. Her work bridges historical texts with contemporary debates, emphasizing Kant’s engagement with Stoicism, Epicureanism, and Enlightenment thought.
Key academic milestones include joining Bilkent University in 2018 and publishing in journals like International Journal of Philosophical Studies, HOPOS, and Studia Kantiana. Her research often addresses Kant’s responses to Hume, Leibniz, and Stoic influences, alongside analyses of the highest good, moral psychology, and the synthetic unity of reason.
Teaching and academic engagement include contributions to Bilkent’s philosophy curriculum and participation in reading groups on Plato and Merleau-Ponty. Her interdisciplinary interests extend to art, as seen in her exploration of paper marbling and oil painting. She actively promotes philosophy through initiatives like PhilFest, fostering dialogue between academia and the public.
