Sandy Berzins is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, affiliated with the Department of Community Health Sciences. She is also an Associate Member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and the Mathison Centre for Mental Health Research and Education. With over 20 years of healthcare research and program evaluation experience, her work spans primary care, mental health, chronic disease management, health technology assessment, and health promotion.
Her PhD in epidemiology (2014) focused on risk factors for depression in multiple sclerosis. She emphasizes effective knowledge translation, addressing the gap between researchers and policymakers to enhance clinical practice. She contributes to the University of Calgary's Brain and Mental Health strategic initiative (2015–2021).
