Sandro Ambühl is the UBS Foundation Assistant Professor of Behavioral Economics of Financial Markets at the Department of Economics, University of Zurich. His research focuses on three key areas: improving financial decision-making, designing policies for ethically sensitive transactions (e.g., organ donation), and understanding cognitive foundations of decision-making. He uses controlled experiments and economic theory to address these questions.
His research has been supported by a 2022 Starting Grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation for work on positive welfare economics. Media features include coverage in the Washington Post, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, NPR, and others.
Key research interests include Behavioral Experimental Economics, Behavioral and Experimental Finance, Repugnant Transactions, and Rational Inattention. He is affiliated with the UBS Center for Economics in Society.
