Sandrine Siméon, PhD, is an Associate Professor of French Language and Culture at Soka University of America, serving as Director of the Language and Culture Program and Assistant Dean of Global Citizenship. She holds a PhD in French and Francophone Studies from Pennsylvania State University, complemented by film studies from Concordia University (Montreal) and Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III. Her academic journey includes teaching roles at Franklin & Marshall College and Susquehanna University.
Her research focuses on film-theater intersections (film-théâtre), emphasizing the ethics/aesthetics of documenting live theater for archival and distribution purposes. Key projects include a forthcoming monograph Film-Theater: Ethics and Aesthetics of Filming Theater and edited volumes like À vos écrans: la scène Anglophone en 2D (2017). Recent work explores liveness paradoxes in mediated theater and Shakespearean adaptations.
