Sandrine Clavel

Sandrine Clavel is a University Professor and Honorary Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. She is a Deputy Director of the DANTE Laboratory (Business Law and New Technologies) and a former member of the Higher Council of the Judiciary. Her academic career spans multiple prestigious institutions, including professorships at the University of Versailles (since 2007), University of South Brittany (2003-2007), and lecturer roles at the University of Reims-Champagne Ardennes (2000-2003). She holds advanced degrees including a Doctorate in Law (1999) and an Aggregation in Private Law (2003).

Her research focuses on private international law, international trade law, and international litigation. Key themes include corporate social responsibility (CSR), global litigation dynamics, and the ethical dimensions of international business. She has contributed to landmark reports such as the 2025 working group on modernizing French arbitration law and authored influential works like Private International Law (2024).

Prof. Clavel’s awards include the André Isoré Prize for her doctoral thesis on extraterritorial judicial injunctions. She actively participates in international legal networks, including the French DIP Committee and the South American Association of Private International Law. Her recent publications address topics like the EU’s Duty of Vigilance Directive, arbitration reforms, and transnational legal challenges.

Her roles include Honorary Director of the Master 2 Arbitration and International Trade program. She has led academic institutions such as the Law School of Paris-Saclay (2016-2019) and the UVSQ Faculty of Law (2012-2017). Her work bridges legal theory and practice, emphasizing international cooperation and the evolving nature of private law in globalization.
