Dr. Sandra Webber is a Professor and Associate Dean, Academic at the Department of Physical Therapy, College of Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Manitoba. Her research focuses on optimizing physical activity, ambulation, and exercise in older adults and those with chronic conditions using advanced technologies like accelerometers and GPS devices. She holds leadership roles in academic administration and graduate programs.
Education: PhD in Independent Inter-Disciplinary Program (2010), MSc in Rehabilitation Sciences (1996), BMR (PT) in Physical Therapy (1990).
Research interests include mobility interventions, technology-enhanced activity measurement, and chronic disease management. Key projects include the GO-OUT outdoor mobility program for older adults and studies on physical activity in inflammatory bowel disease.
Her recent articles emphasize virtual rehabilitation, pandemic-era exercise adaptations, and healthcare accessibility. Notable awards include the 2024 Susan A. Macdonald Award and 2022 Silver Quill Award for research excellence.
Dr. Webber collaborates widely across rehabilitation, kinesiology, and public health disciplines. She has directed the Applied Health Sciences PhD program and contributed to policy reforms in physiotherapy service delivery.
