Jennifer Brach is a Professor and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Development at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) in the Department of Physical Therapy. She holds a PhD and MS from the University of Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on aging, mobility, gait analysis, and exercise interventions, particularly targeting falls prevention and mobility in older adults.
Brach's work emphasizes translating evidence-based practices into community programs, such as the 'On The Move' exercise program. She has contributed to studies on gait biomechanics, GPS-measured mobility, and the impact of physical activity on health outcomes. Awards include the American Geriatric Society's New Investigator Award (2005) and Excellence in Research Award from the American Physical Therapy Association (2008).
Her research spans clinical and community settings, addressing barriers to physical activity and the role of technology in monitoring mobility. She has led initiatives like the WISE trial to reduce fall-related injuries and collaborated on dissemination strategies for falls prevention programs.
