Sandra H. Goff is an Associate Professor of Economics and Co-Chair of the Economics Department at Bates College. Her research focuses on behavioral and experimental economics, exploring prosocial economic behavior through agent-based models and field/lab experiments. She investigates topics such as sucker aversion, environmental philanthropy, guilt-driven ethical consumption, and the impact of economic education on market attitudes. Goff runs the Goff Lab for Experimental Economics (GLEE) to advance her teaching and research.
Her expertise includes behavioral economics, experimental methodologies, and environmental/natural resource economics. She has published extensively on topics ranging from government attitudes during crises to ecosystem valuation strategies. Goff teaches courses like Behavioral Economics, Experimental Economics, and Statistical Methods. She will be on sabbatical during the 2024-2025 academic year.
Recent work highlights her analysis of the 'principle-implementation gap' in pandemic policy support and the role of valuation communication in environmental giving. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges economic theory with practical applications in sustainability and social cooperation.
