Marta Serra-Garcia is an Associate Professor of Economics and Strategy at the Rady School of Management, University of California, San Diego. Her research focuses on behavioral and experimental economics, particularly how individuals acquire and transmit information and how this shapes ethical decision-making, self-image, and prosocial behavior.

- B.A. in Business Administration, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona
Her work explores topics such as lying aversion, charitable giving, risk attitudes, and cognitive biases. Recent research examines the impact of incentives and defaults on pandemic-related behaviors, peer effects in risk-taking, and the replication crisis in scientific publishing. Her findings have been published in American Economic Review, Management Science, and Psychological Science.
Marta has received multiple accolades, including the 2020 Best 40 under 40 MBA Professors and the Phyllis and Daniel Epstein Chancellor’s Endowed Faculty Fellowship. She currently leads an NSF-funded project on the information-attention tradeoff. She also contributes to the Rady Behavioral Economics Lab.
