Sandra Davis is a Professor at Flagler College, holding a position since 1998 and promoted to full professor in 2011. She specializes in education with a focus on curriculum development and systemic change. Her academic background includes a Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Education in Reading from Salisbury University, and dual Bachelor's degrees in Elementary Education and Studio Art from Salisbury State College.
Her research interests span mathematics education, teacher training, and innovative pedagogical strategies. Notable contributions include developing curricula integrating historical St. Augustine landmarks and creating interactive lesson plans for visual arts and social studies. She has presented at international conferences such as the International Conference on Learning in Madrid and the HUIC Arts conference in Honolulu.
Dr. Davis is a recipient of the Maryland’s Elementary Mathematics Teacher of the Year (2007) and Florida Leader Magazine’s Most Novel Idea Award (2001). Her work emphasizes creative teaching methods, including dialogue journals to enhance literacy and home-school communication. She has secured grants, including a $25,000 award for historical curriculum development.
Active in community service, she leads Flagler College’s Creative Writing Camp and contributes to St. Johns County educational initiatives. Professional involvement includes roles with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the St. Johns County Reading Association.
