Her teaching addresses current issues and challenges faced by landscapes and the built environment, with a focus on creating resilient environments, healthy urban landscapes, and long-term visions for areas identified for future housing and employment.
Her research interests span multiple interconnected domains including climate change adaptation strategies, food urbanism, and public health and wellbeing in urban environments. She approaches landscape architecture as a multidisciplinary field that bridges environmental design, social wellbeing, and sustainable development.
Sandra Costa has developed teaching approaches that explore strategies relating to important contemporary matters such as climate change, food urbanism, and public health and wellbeing. Her work emphasizes the creation of resilient environments and healthy urban landscapes through thoughtful design and planning.
