Sandra Adams is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), holding dual affiliations with the Departments of Art History, Theory and Criticism and Fashion Design. She has been teaching since 1983, specializing in fashion and art history with a focus on cross-cultural material technologies, global dress evolution, and the intersection of aesthetics and function.
Adams holds a BFA in History of Architecture and Art from the University of Illinois, Chicago (1973). Her professional background includes roles as Assistant to the Curator of Costumes at the Chicago History Museum (1979–1983) and President of Robert Henry Adams Fine Art, Inc. (2001–2008). She is certified in education through the Arcturus Rudolf Steiner Education Program.
Her research and lectures explore themes such as Pop Surrealism, fashion photography history, and the sociocultural impact of dress.
