Dr. Sandhya Makkar is a Senior Lecturer in Big Data Analytics at Sheffield Hallam University and Adjunct Faculty at SP Jain Global Business School. She holds a PhD in Optimization from the University of Delhi, along with MPhil and MA degrees in Operations Research and Mathematical Programming. Her expertise spans Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning, IoT, and Supply Chain Optimization. Dr. Makkar also serves as Book Editor for CRC Press and Taylor & Francis Group's series on IT, Operations Research, and Industry 4.0.
Education: PhD in Optimization (University of Delhi, India), MPhil in Time-Cost Tradeoff Transportation Problems, MA in Operations Research (all from University of Delhi).
Research interests include Big Data Analytics, AI in Smart Cities, Predictive Analytics, IoT applications, and Optimization Techniques. She has authored over 30 research papers and contributed to projects in Sentiment Analysis, Predictive Maintenance, and Blockchain in supply chain.
Publications: 15+ journal articles (2019-2024), including work on supply chain optimization under fuzzy environments and blockchain applications. Her recent focus includes AI-driven smart city development and IoT-based disaster management.
Advising/Grants: Conducted training programs for National Academy of Defense Production and National Institute of Technical Teachers. Currently co-authoring two books on AI in Smart Cities (Taylor & Francis) and AI in Transportation (De Gruyter).
Labs/Teams: Active in the Industry and Innovation Research Institute, collaborating on AI and IoT projects.
