Samuel Taylor, Ph.D., is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Communication Studies at Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication. His research focuses on identity formation within institutions, particularly faith-based organizations, community groups, and families. He explores processes of exit from religious institutions, academic-faith identity management, and social support in blended families during chronic illness. His work employs theories like organizational socialization and disidentification.
Dr. Taylor teaches courses such as Public Speaking, Communication and New Technology, Interviewing, Persuasion, Small Group Communication, Communication Among Cultures, and Interpersonal Communication. His publications include works in Health Communication and contributions to the edited volume Brave Space-Making: The Poetics and Politics of Storytelling (2022).
Outside academia, he coaches CrossFit at SEO, plays tennis and soccer, and enjoys hiking with his family.
