Samuel Stadlen is a Professor at the Royal College of Music in the Historical Performance faculty. Based in York, he is actively engaged as a viola da gamba player and cellist in London and the North of England, performing solo and with renowned period music ensembles such as Fretwork, Sestina Consort, and London Abel Quartet. He studied baroque cello under Rachel Gray and viol under Susanna Pell, and has received mentorship from luminaries including Christophe Coin, Wieland Kuijken, and Alison Crum.
