Samuel Perry is an Associate Professor of Communication at the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC), where he directs the Graduate Fellowship in Interdisciplinary Rhetorical Studies. He is affiliated with the Communication Department and teaches courses such as World of Rhetoric I & II, World Cultures IV, and Social World I. His research focuses on race and racism in the United States, particularly examining how anti-Black racism manifests in political, religious, and popular discourse.
- Education: BA in History and Communication, MA in Communication (Baylor University); PhD in Communication with focus on Rhetoric & Public Address (Georgia State University)
Dr. Perry has published in journals like Rhetoric Society Quarterly and Southern Communication Journal, with a forthcoming book titled Rhetorics of Race and Religion on the Christian Right: Barack Obama and the War on Terror (Lexington Books). His work analyzes systemic racism in public spheres, including media, politics, and religion.
