Dr. Samuel P. Perry is an Associate Professor of Communication at the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC) and Director of the Graduate Fellowship in Interdisciplinary Rhetorical Studies. He coordinates the World of Rhetoric sequence and teaches World of Rhetoric I & II, as well as a hybrid course integrating dual credit high school students. Dr. Perry also co-developed the Capstone course "Not a Hero, Not a Villain" with Dr. Davide Zori.

- Undergraduate studies in History and Communication, Baylor University
His research focuses on race and racism in the United States, particularly anti-Black racism in political, religious, and popular discourse. His work examines how racial and religious identities are weaponized in public spheres, as seen in his book analyzing criticisms of President Obama and ongoing projects on mediated racial violence and historical racial trauma.
Dr. Perry has published in journals such as Rhetoric Society Quarterly, Southern Communication Journal, and Argumentation & Advocacy. His forthcoming work includes an article in Rhetoric, Politics, and Culture on effigies and racial violence in sports, and a chapter in the ABC-CLIO History of American Racial Violence about the Charleston AME Church Massacre.
