Dr. Samson Jamesdaniel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at Wayne State University School of Medicine. His laboratory focuses on redox-sensitive molecular mechanisms in acquired hearing loss, with particular emphasis on noise exposure, ototoxic drugs like cisplatin, and aging. Research examines proteomic approaches to identify signaling pathways regulating hearing impairment and stress response, including genetic-environmental interactions affecting susceptibility.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Physiology from University of Madras (2006) and M.D. in Alternative Medicine from Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University (2001).
Research interests center on:
- Redox biology in cochlear damage
- Protein nitration in ototoxicity
- Environmental risk factors for hearing loss
- Antioxidant therapeutic strategies
Recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on molecular mechanisms of ototoxicity, particularly cisplatin and lead-induced hearing damage, with evolving work on nitrative stress biomarkers and protective compounds like MnTBAP. Research employs diverse models from rodent cochlea to zebrafish neuromasts.
Laboratory activities include proteomic analysis of cochlear tissues and investigation of transcriptional regulators like LMO4. No awards, students, or grants are documented in available materials.
