Sammyh Khan is a Senior Lecturer at Örebro University's Department of Behavioral, Social and Legal Sciences, serving as Head of Psychology since 2023. He holds a PhD from Victoria University of Wellington (2011) and has prior experience at Keele University (2015-2020), Exeter University (2012-2014), and others. His research focuses on intersections of cultural, social, political, and health psychology, particularly social identity processes in group dynamics and health behaviors. Methodologically, he combines quantitative and qualitative approaches. He co-edits the British Journal of Social Psychology and advises the Asian Journal of Social Psychology.
Key research interests include:
- Intergroup relations and acculturation strategies
- Health behaviors and well-being
- Historical narratives and social identity
His recent work explores refugee youth integration, pandemic psychology, and mass gathering dynamics. He is affiliated with the Center for Health and Medical Psychology (CHAMP) and the Center for Social Science Environmental and Sustainability Research (CESSS).
