Sami Turan Erel is an Assistant Professor at Istanbul 29 Mayis University, Faculty of Theology, specializing in Islamic philosophy and theology. He completed his academic journey with a Licence from Istanbul University Faculty of Theology (2013), followed by a Master's degree (2016) and Doctorate (2022) from Istanbul 29 Mayıs University Institute of Social Sciences.
His research focuses on epistemology, metaphysics, physics, psychology, and optics within Islamic theological contexts, with particular emphasis on Islamic philosophy and the works of scholars such as Fakhr al-Din al-Razi. His scholarly interests include the relationship between science, philosophy, and religion in Islamic tradition.
Erel's publication record demonstrates a strong engagement with critical editions of classical Islamic texts, historical analysis of theological debates, and the classification of Islamic sciences. His work spans both contemporary academic analysis and historical textual scholarship, reflecting his dual expertise in both theoretical and historical aspects of Islamic thought.
