Sami Suodenjoki is a Senior Research Fellow and Adjunct Professor (Docent) in Social History at Tampere University, affiliated with the Academy of Finland Centre of Excellence in the History of Experiences (HEX). His research focuses on political mobilizations, class and empire experiences, the labor movement, and the Finnish Civil War. He holds a PhD in history and an MSSc in journalism and mass communication.
Research Interests: Suodenjoki explores the experiential basis of political movements, particularly in late 19th–early 20th century Finland. His work examines the lived experiences of class, empire, and state-citizen interactions. Key themes include nationalism, subaltern political practices, and the role of media and cultural artifacts in shaping political identities.
