Samar El-Abdallah is a Lecturer in Botany at Cal Poly Humboldt's Department of Biological Sciences. She earned her Associate of Science in Biological/Physical Sciences and Mathematics from Citrus College, followed by a Bachelor's and Master's in Botany from Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt). Her research focuses on reconstructing Paleozoic fossil plants using morphometric techniques, particularly analyzing plant anatomy and developmental patterns to understand evolutionary transitions.

El-Abdallah's work integrates quantitative methods with paleobotanical analysis to study plant evolution. Her research on sclerified conifer seed cones and Devonian forest ecosystems demonstrates interdisciplinary approaches combining anatomy, taphonomy, and environmental reconstruction.
Her methodological contributions include comparative analysis of imaging techniques for fossil plant studies, while her fieldwork in Wyoming has provided insights into Devonian flora depositional environments and early forest ecosystems.
