Allison Bronson

Allison Bronson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Cal Poly Humboldt, specializing in evolutionary ichthyology and vertebrate morphology. She holds a BS in Zoology & Marine Biology (2014) from Cal Poly Humboldt and a PhD in Comparative Biology (2018) from the American Museum of Natural History.

Her research spans deep time evolutionary studies and modern environmental impacts on fish anatomy, with a focus on chondrichthyan (sharks, rays) morphology and fossil preservation. She teaches courses in Evolution, Ichthyology, Comparative Anatomy, and Methods of Laboratory Instruction.

Research trends highlight her expertise in fossil fish systematics, 3D anatomical reconstruction, and interdisciplinary studies bridging paleontology with contemporary marine biology. Notable collaborations include work on Permian rift valley ichthyofaunas and Devonian plant-fish interactions.
