Dr. Samantha Purchase is a University Teaching Associate in Human Anatomy and Osteology at the University of Sheffield's School of Biosciences, Department of Archaeology (2021–2024). She holds a PhD in Archaeology from the University of Sheffield (2021) and prior degrees from the University of Saskatchewan, including an MA (2016) and BA (2012). Her research focuses on paleopathological analysis of respiratory diseases in archaeological populations, employing radiographic techniques and interdisciplinary approaches.

- MA Thesis: 'Infectious Disease as an Indicator of Physiological Stress in the Middle Holocene Cis-Baikal'
Her research interests span paleopathology, paleoradiology, funerary archaeology, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in academia. She is affiliated with the Bioarchaeology of Urbanization Research Group (BURG) and the Bioarchaeology Respiratory Network (BRN).
Teaching roles include module organization for Human Anatomy, Human Osteology, and Applied Bioarchaeological Science, alongside contributions to forensic anatomy courses. She has extensive teaching experience across multiple institutions, including sessional lecturing and laboratory instruction in human evolution and osteology.
