Samantha Pezzimenti is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Widener University, dedicated to making mathematics accessible and engaging. She holds a PhD (2018), MA (2015), and BS (2012) in Mathematics from Bryn Mawr College, where her research focused on Legendrian knots and contact topology under the advisement of Lisa Traynor.
- PhD, Mathematics (2018) - Bryn Mawr College
- MA, Mathematics (2015) - Bryn Mawr College
- BS, Mathematics (2012) - Bryn Mawr College
Her research spans topology and knot theory, with a focus on Legendrian knots, Lagrangian cobordisms, and the intersection of mathematics with art. She actively involves undergraduate students in research projects and has contributed to collaborative art installations like Mathemalchemy.
Recent publications highlight her work on knot mosaics, geometric constraints, and mathematical art. Awards include the Early Career Teaching Award (2024) and multiple teaching/mentoring honors.
- Early Career Teaching Award (EPaDel, 2024)
- D'Iorio Mentoring Award (Penn State Brandywine, 2024)
- Excellence in Teaching (Penn State Brandywine, 2022)
- Priscilla Clement Faculty Development Award (2020)
- McPherson Award for Excellence (Bryn Mawr, 2017)
She mentors student co-authors (e.g., Margaret Kipe, Luc Ta) and leads outreach initiatives such as the Delaware County 4-H STEM Club. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes exploration, collaboration, and learning through mistakes.
