Lenhard Lee Ng is a Professor of Mathematics at Duke University, affiliated with the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from MIT (2001). His research focuses on symplectic and contact topology, low-dimensional topology, and knot theory, with contributions to Legendrian knots, contact homology, and topological string theory. He has received awards including the AMS Fellowship (2019) and NSF CAREER Award (2009). Ng has advised students like Zijun Li and mentors Jason Ma and Stanley Pritchard. His grants include studies on holomorphic invariants and symplectic topology. He teaches advanced courses in topology and abstract algebra.
- Education: Ph.D. in Mathematics, MIT (2001)
- Research Interests: Symplectic geometry, contact topology, knot theory, topological string theory
- Grants: Holomorphic Invariants of Knots (NSF 2020–2024), Simons Foundation Fellowship (2015–2016)
Ng's work bridges geometry and physics, with publications on Legendrian knots and contact homology. He actively serves in academic leadership roles, including directing undergraduate research at Duke and organizing conferences like the 'Frontiers in Geometry and Topology.'
