Dr. Samaneh Zandian serves as a Lecturer in Language Education at the Institute for Language Education (ILE), Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh. Her academic work spans teaching, research, and supervision in language education, with a specialization in child language learners and intercultural contexts.
Her educational qualifications include:
- MA in English Translation Studies from Allameh Tabataba’i University
- MA in English Language Teaching from the University of Warwick
- PhD in English Language Teaching and Applied Linguistics from the University of Warwick
Research interests focus on second language acquisition for children, young language learners, and social psychology and cross-cultural adaptation in children. She pioneers participatory and inclusive research methodologies with children and investigates intercultural education and communication. Current projects examine international students' educational, social, and linguistic experiences in UK higher education.
Dr. Zandian supervises PhD students including Xuande Wu and Fumika Koshiba (current) and Giulia Pinton (past). She received a Seedcorn fund grant (£1240) in 2018 for her research initiatives.
