Samaneh Abolpour Mofrad

Samaneh Abolpour Mofrad is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Bergen (UiB). She is also affiliated with the Department of Computer Technology, Electrical Technology and Science at the University of Western Norway and the Radiology Department at Haukeland University Hospital. Her research bridges computer science, neuroscience, and clinical medicine, focusing on early detection of neurodegenerative diseases.

Her primary research interests lie in machine learning for dementia prediction, neuroimaging analysis, and cognitive modeling. She develops computational frameworks using longitudinal cognitive and MRI data to predict Alzheimer’s disease progression. Her work also explores neural associative memory and stimulus equivalence modeling, contributing to both artificial intelligence and cognitive science.

The recent articles highlight a strong trend in predictive modeling of neurological disorders, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, using ensemble machine learning and brain volume trajectories. Her publications also delve into theoretical AI models such as tournament-based neural networks and projective simulation, indicating a dual focus on applied clinical research and foundational AI.

She has been funded by the Bergen Research Foundation (Project: BFS2018TMT07) for her work on dementia prediction. Her collaborations span multiple institutions, including OsloMet and the University of Bergen, and she frequently works with experts in radiology and biomedicine.
