Olga Therese Ousdal is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedicine, University of Bergen, and a consultant neuroradiologist at Haukeland University Hospital. Her research bridges neuroscience and psychiatry, focusing on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying major depression, anxiety disorders, and trauma, particularly in youth survivors of the 2011 Utøya terror attack.
- Research Interests: Neuroimaging, brain plasticity, ECT/TMS treatment mechanisms, trauma, multiomics, and cognitive control.
- Awards: Marie Spångberg Award (2020), Falch Junior Award (2022), Young Scientist Award (2022).
- Leadership: Neuroimaging work packages at the Center for Research on Neurostimulation Treatments and Bergen Center for Brain Plasticity.
Publications (2025-2012) reveal trends in ECT-induced brain changes, amygdala-prefrontal circuits, and trauma's impact on brain development. Her work spans obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, and genetic-neural interactions.
