Dr. Saman Khalatbari Soltani is a Senior Lecturer in Population Health at the University of Sydney's Sydney School of Public Health. Her research focuses on social determinants of healthy ageing, health inequities, and methodological challenges in social epidemiology. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Lausanne (2018) and conducted a fellowship at the University of Cambridge (2017).
Research interests include socioeconomic disparities in pain, diet-related chronic diseases, and the Concord Health and Aging in Men Project (CHAMP). Collaborations span France, Switzerland, and the UK. Awards include the USYD Early Career Researcher Award (2023) and the John Garrow Clinical Nutrition Award (2018).
Teaching includes coordinating units in Healthy Ageing and Public Health research. Current projects involve falls prevention, pain epidemiology, and life-course approaches to health equity. She advises Peiyao XU on ethnic inequalities in cardiovascular disease.
Grants include the Sydney Policy Lab/Impact Awards (2025) and the MRFF Cardiovascular Health Mission (2021). She is affiliated with the Australian Association of Gerontology and the International Epidemiological Association.
