Samadhan Patil is a Lecturer in Medical Engineering at the University of York's School of Physics, Engineering and Technology since January 2020. His expertise spans bio-sensor development, point-of-care diagnostics, and advanced materials engineering. He has held research positions at institutions including IIT Bombay, INESC-MN (Portugal), University College London, and Imperial College London.
- PhD: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay – Opto-electronic devices and thin-film materials
- Postdoctoral Fellowship: Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT)-funded research at INESC-MN, Lisbon
- Research Experience: London Centre for Nanotechnology (UCL) and Imperial College London
Research focuses on nano-engineered systems for disease diagnosis (e.g., HIV, Haemophilia A) and drug efficacy monitoring. Innovations include hybrid MEMS-magneto-resistive sensors and multi-sensor metabolome chips for prostate cancer detection. Co-founder of startups Multicorder DX and 3P-Sense, advancing diagnostic technologies.
Notable contributions: Pioneered CMOS-compatible MEMS fabrication on non-silicon substrates and integrated nano-mechanical sensors for rapid diagnostics. Collaborations include NHS laboratories for clinical validation of metabolite monitoring devices.
