Sam Sparks serves as Assistant Professor of Theatre at Millsaps College, leading the Millsaps Players production program and advising the Alpha Pi chapter of Alpha Psi Omega. He also represents Mississippi on the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) Board of Directors.
Education:
- B.A. in Theater from Millsaps College
- M.F.A. in Theater (Directing) from University of Houston
With expertise spanning classical and contemporary performance, Sparks' research integrates Theatre Directing and Set Design through historical and practical lenses. His work emphasizes Classical Theatre traditions like Shakespeare and Molière alongside modern experimental forms, while his SETC committee leadership demonstrates deep engagement with Theatre History and pedagogy. Current projects include coordinating the Denise Halbach Scholarship for graduate performance studies.
Sparks actively mentors through Alpha Psi Omega and oversees Millsaps Players' productions, including "Metamorphoses" and "Equus". His professional service extends to SETC committee leadership in Publications and Theatre History, Theory, Literature, and Criticism.
