Professor Sam Kosari is a Professor of Pharmacy at RMIT University's School of Health and Biomedical Sciences, based in Bundoora, Australia. He holds a formal appointment since 2025 and previously served as Associate Professor and Course Convener at the University of Canberra (2015–2025). His academic journey includes a Research Fellowship at the University of Melbourne (2013–2015).
His research focuses on improving healthcare systems through translational research, with a strong emphasis on aged care, medication safety, and pharmacist integration into primary care. Notably, he pioneered a nationally recognized program embedding on-site pharmacists in residential aged care facilities, which influenced policy reforms and established government-funded pharmacist services to enhance medication safety and care quality.
Research interests include pharmacy practice, health service research, medicine safety, and implementation science. His work bridges academic research with real-world healthcare challenges, particularly in optimizing medication use and interprofessional collaboration.
Professor Kosari is actively involved in teaching and supervising postgraduate research students, contributing to programs in pharmacy education and quality use of medicines. He remains open to collaborative projects, industry partnerships, and media inquiries related to his expertise.
