Dr Sam Hoang is a Research Fellow at the Mitchell Institute, Victoria University. With nearly 10 years of experience across education sectors, his work focuses on internationalisation in higher education, VET systems, academic workforce casualisation, and student equity. Prior roles include Research Officer at CIRES, Research Fellow at Melbourne University's Higher Education Study Centre, and Policy Analyst at Mitchell Institute.
Education qualifications include a PhD (Monash University), MA and PGDipLT (University of Auckland), and BSc (Hanoi National University of Education).
Key research areas explore Vietnamese scholars' navigation of global research expectations, international student choices for Australia, and structural reforms in higher education like Victoria University's Block Model. His work bridges policy analysis with practitioner perspectives, particularly in developing country contexts.
