Salvatore Valenti is a Research Fellow at the Department of Humanities of Ca' Foscari University of Venice. Trained as a historian of cities and urbanization processes (PhD from University of Leicester, School of History, Politics, International Relations), his work bridges social history and environmental history with a focus on water infrastructure.
- Current Project: Research Fellow on the ERC Advanced Grant project "The Water Cultures of Italy, 1500–1900"
- Research Focus: Evolution of water purity concepts in medical/chemical contexts, impact of Asiatic cholera, and 19th-century Italian urban water supply transformations
His recent publications analyze historical intersections between public health policies, hydraulic engineering debates, and urban poverty in nineteenth-century Italy. Notable works include studies on Rome's sewer systems, Venice's water quality debates, and comparative analyses of Milan, Naples, and Venice.
