His research focuses on genetic markers like microsatellites and SNPs to assess biodiversity in livestock species (bovine, caprine, equine, swine, donkey). He investigates milk protein polymorphisms for hypoallergenic properties and participates in national/European research projects. Recent work includes DNA sequencing for phylogenetic studies of Sicilian breeds.
Publications from 2018-2025 span plant pathology, molecular diagnostics, and sustainable agricultural practices. Articles show expertise in Phytophthora diseases, Trichoderma biocontrol, and innovative detection methods (LAMP, RPA assays). While primarily zootechnics-focused, collaborations extend into plant disease research and postharvest technologies.
